About your therapist
I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have a Bsc (Hons) Psychology, a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin City University and the Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies at Turning Point, Dun Laoghaire; and a Professional Certificate in CBT from PCI College, Dublin. I also have over 20 years’ experience as a journalist and trainer, previous to becoming a psychotherapist.
There are various models of counselling and psychotherapy and I am trained as a humanistic integrative psychotherapist, which means that I offer a flexible approach depending on the needs or personality of individual clients. I draw from several approaches, including person-centred psychotherapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy (a body-focused therapy), psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therahpy (Act).
