About me

I AM an IFS psychotherapist accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also trained as a clinical supervisor and offer group supervision to therapists who are transitioning to IFS.
My qualifications include:
– Bsc (Hons) Psychology, (The Open University)
– Postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin City University and the Irish Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies at Turning Point, Dun Laoghaire;
– Professional Certificate in CBT from PCI College, Dublin;
– Level one Sensorimotor Psychotherapy from SPI;
– Level 3 equivalent in Internal Family Systems therapy (Stepping Stones, Adler Institute, Canada, etc).
– Diploma in Clinical Supervision from Dublin City University.
There are various models of counselling and psychotherapy and my foundation training was as a humanistic integrative psychotherapist. However, while I still incorporate elements of the psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, the primary modality I use now is Internal Family Systems therapy, having become convinced of its effectiveness above any other approach.
I have over 20 years’ experience as a journalist and trainer, prior to becoming a psychotherapist; and I also write on mental health issues and provide online training in the Internal Family Systems model for other therapists.
